Is This How You Imagined Raw Food?

Are you curious about the raw food diet?

Does the term conjur images of boring, repetitive salads, nuts, and berries?

Discouraged by the thought of the foods you would be “giving up”?

Well check out these photos…  They’ll blow you away almost as much as actually being there and tasting it yourself!

These were taken during a recent trip to Café Gratitude restaurant in San Rafael, CA. This is my favorite raw food restaurant, and one of the best places to take the unraw and really blow their minds!

Meals 9/28/2008

Okay so I’ve only got one video here, so this post should be titled “Meal” not “Meals.”

This is a basic but tasty salad with home made spinach-walnut sauce.

Meal updates 9/27/2008

Where have the meal updates gone?

Well, over the past couple of days I have been lazy.  And busy.  But mostly lazy.

So I have been lax with the videos and photos of late.

Another thing is, I haven’t been particularly raw the past couple days.  Some falafel sandwiches, baked vegan muffins, soy ice cream, etc.  Definitely some salads and fruit smoothies in there, but overall I haven’t been feeling like a very good raw role model (rawl model?) of late.

But have no fear, dearest reader, I shall press on!

The China Study – Book Review

The China Study

In The China Study, father-and-son authors T. Colin Campbell and Thomas M. Campbell II overwhelm you with evidence upon evidence of the relationship between diet and health. A large portion of the book centers around a massive study the authors conducted in China that involved thousands of subjects and set out to find how diet and lifestyle influence cancer. The authors also discuss studies performed by many other researchers on the topics of various other serious diseases, such as heart disease and diabetes.

The information is presented in an accessible and understandable way. There is some technical jargon at times, but it doesn’t get in the way.

This review can be summed up in a single sentence Read more »

A bit behind with the meal record-keeping.

But here’s some raw spaghetti for breakfast.

Action River: How to Get From Dream to Reality

Action River @ Raw Food Diet Now

How To Cross from Dream to Reality?

A river divides two lands: Dream on one side, Reality on the other. To get from Dream to Reality you must cross Action River. That is to say, dreams and ideas begin in your mind, and will stay there as mere thoughts until you take action. Action is what brings dreams and ideas to life.

Have you ever had a dream project? A trip you wanted to take. A business you wanted to start. A weight loss goal. A book you wanted to write.

You could plan and scheme until the end of time about your grand new business idea that promises to revolutionize the world. But until you DO something about it, it’s trapped in your head. It will go nowhere. Action is how you FREE your dreams and ideas into existence.

So, back to the river metaphor, in order to cross from Dream to Reality, you’ll need to row the boat across the river. In other words, take Action. Without that active rowing, you’ll just float on the river, taking you wherever the currents around you happen to go.

Would you rather be in control of your life, or feel like life is controlling you at every corner? That is the difference between taking action and being passive.

If you are not taking positive action to get to where you want, then you are letting other things and other people control your life. You are floating on the river, content to let the water push you around and take you wherever, even if it’s over the falls to your doom.

You have a choice. You can choose to row the boat. You can take charge and be in control of your destination.

Rowing the boat is good, yes?

But rowing any which way isn’t enough.

To Succeed going from Dream to Reality we also need Read more »

High Gas Prices and the Raw Food Diet: Something in Common?

High Gas Prices @ Raw Food Diet Now

What Does Filling Your Car Have To Do with the Raw Food Diet?

As you’re well aware by now, gas prices have shot through the roof. Fast to go up, slow to go down.

Just the other day I received one of those forwarded e-mails from a well-meaning friend.

You’ve probably seen the one. It gives you a bunch of tips about filling up… What exact time to fill up, so you don’t get debris from the underground tank. How to maximize the volume of gas you get due to the temperature. How to fill up and avoid loss of gas in the form of fumes.

People are so concerned about what they put in their cars. And getting the most value out of what they put in.

Heck, there’s even an e-book for sale now about how to fill up at the pump!

Then I stop to think. I wonder how many people Read more »

Meals 9/24/2008

Trying to remember what I had for lunch. I came home for lunch, but beyond that it’s a blur.

Meals 9/23/2008

Today was a busy day and I didn’t get any footage. Sorry! I’m sleepy, so here’s a quick re-cap of today.

Breakfast

  • Stir-fried pumpkin & quinoa
  • 1 glass orange juice
  • Raw apple cobbler (just a few bites!)

Snack

  • Variety of fresh organic fruit

Lunch

  • Stir fried veggies & tempeh

Snack

  • Homemade raw trail mix

Dinner

  • Vegan sprouted “burger” patty w/ whole wheat bun & veggies
  • Finished off the apple cobbler!
  • 1 glass of chardonnay

Not so raw today. Maybe that’s contributing to why I’m a bit sleepy.

Note that all drinks not mentioned are filtered water.

Today Jeem (my “better half”) busted out a mean raw apple cobbler!  It was quite convincing, except that it wasn’t crunchy. (Maybe if we had a dehydrator?) Anyways, she totally pulled the recipe out of thin air and scored a home run. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to video its creation & post a recipe.
